Most learning management systems open LockDown Browser automatically when you start a test, so no special setup is needed to take exams at two institutions. This applies to Blackboard Ultra, D2L, Moodle, Schoology, and Canvas New Quizzes.
The only situations that require extra attention are Canvas Classic Quizzes and Blackboard Learn Original, which require an institution-specific version of LockDown Browser.
If one of your institutions uses Canvas Classic Quizzes or Blackboard Learn Original
Canvas Classic Quizzes and Blackboard Learn Original require you to install LockDown Browser from a download link provided by that institution.
If your second institution uses Blackboard, D2L, Moodle, Schoology, or Canvas New Quizzes, the Canvas Classic or Blackboard Original version will work there too. Just install from the Canvas Classic or Blackboard Original institution's link, and you're set for both schools.
If both institutions use Canvas Classic Quizzes or Blackboard Original
This is the trickiest case. Because each installation is tied to a specific institution, you'll need to switch between them:
- Uninstall the current version of LockDown Browser
- Download and install the version from the institution where you want to take your next test
You'll repeat this process each time you switch between the two schools.
A better option if you switch often
If you frequently alternate between two institutions that both use either Canvas Classic Quizzes or Blackboard Original, our support team can set you up with a desktop shortcut that lets you access either institution without uninstalling anything.
Submit a support ticket and we'll send you a link to download the shortcut for your second institution. The ticket submission form is found here: https://support.respondus.com/
