Respondus 4 can’t connect to the Internet even though my web browser can access it.

A good way to check whether Respondus 4 is able to access the Internet is to select the “Check for Update” option located under the Help menu. The "Check for Update" feature in Respondus 4 makes a standard HTTP request over port 80 to respondus.com to retrieve version information from a Respondus web page. If Respondus 4 is able to complete the Check for Update task, it is successfully connecting to the Internet.

However, if the Check for Update process is unsuccessful, it means that Respondus 4 is being prevented from accessing the Internet. In most cases a firewall is to blame for this. Be sure that Respondus 4 (respond.exe) is listed in your firewall settings as having permission to access the Internet.
