Standard vs OEM
The standard version of LockDown Browser works “out of the box” with assessments delivered in Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas, Infinite Campus, Moodle, Schoology and Sakai.
The OEM version of LockDown Browser is licensed by 80 additional organizations, allowing them to include LockDown Browser as a feature of their assessment system. A partial list of partners that integrate LockDown Browser via our SDK can be found at: https://web.respondus.com/partners/technology/
Key Differences
The OEM version of LockDown Browser differs from the standard version in several key ways:
- It is distributed and supported by the partnering company (publisher, learning system, assessment platform).
- The file name of the application includes OEM.
- All OEM integrations will auto-launch LockDown Browser when the student begins the test.
- The partner may not support the iPad and/or Chromebook version of LockDown Browser. Contact the vendor to determine which devices are supported.
- A single OEM browser (Windows and Mac) works across ALL third-party platforms. If your school or institution uses more than one OEM version of LockDown Browser, only one copy should be installed on each device. When two different versions are provided, it is recommended to install the most recent version.
- The OEM version has a managed installer for managed devices (Windows only); Contact your LockDown Browser Administrator for assistance.
